Core/Shell Nitrogen-Doped TiO2@SiO2 Nano-Catalyst as an Additive in Photocatalytic Paint for Gaseous Acetaldehyde Decomposition

A nitrogen-doped TiO2@SiO2 core/shell nano-photocatalyst (N-TiO2@SiO2) was used as an additive in photocatalytic paint and applied for the degradation of gaseous acetaldehyde under light-emitting diode (LED) visible light irradiation. N-TiO2 synthesised via solvothermal method then encapsulated by SiO2 sol-gel method. The incorporation N atom into TiO2 structure observed X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. N-TiO2@SiO2 determined TEM images. photodegradation using prepared examined a closed chamber LED (31%) significantly higher than that (5%) (20%) within 16 h. chemical resistance adhesion ability were investigated following Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) no. 2321 standard test methods rating tape (ASTM D 3359-22). showed good acid alkali resistance, well high comparable with commercial (without photocatalyst).
